College of Science and Technical Education (CoSTE)

The College of Science and Technical Education was established and approved by Senate and further endorsed by the University Council as prescribed by article 24(2d) of the University Charter-2013. The College of Science and Education (CoSTE) was established as a Campus College of the Mbeya University of Science and Technology. The College was established to address acute shortage of graduate teachers and experts in Science and Technical education sector in Tanzania as a result of the expansion of primary education enrolment through Primary Education Development Programme (PEDP) and the expansion of secondary schools through Secondary Education Development Programme (SEDP).

Following the move of the Ministry of Education, Science and Vocational Education and the National strategy to strengthen Technical Education in the Country, Mbeya University of Science and Technology has been instructed to think of how the University can support the move by establishing a College that will produce more Technical manpower with education background to cover the shortage of Technical Teachers in the country instead of engaging in a field which has already been grabbed by a number of Universities in the Country. However, this initiative will not limit the University from producing general Science Teachers in the future if need be. CoSTE is committed to offer quality services and training to its customers as well as endourvering to lead in Science and Technology.
